York College Rock Band wins first place in the Live Band category in the 2019 YorVoice competition

York College Rock Band and Jess Pastelak Crowned YorVoice 2019 Champions

York, PA – York County’s 2019 YorVoice champions have been crowned! York College Rock Band were awarded Live Band Champion with their performance of “Money For Nothing” by Dire Straights, and Jess Pastelak took home Vocal Champion with her performance of “Hollow” by Tori Kelley.  YorVoice-a singing competition/talent showcase event highlights the talent of York County, featuring a celebrity panel of judges with teams emerging as YorVoice Live Band Champion, Vocal Champion and People’s Choice Award.  The competition was fierce on Saturday, March 30, 2019 for the Cultural Alliance fundraising event, with 10 teams of musicians battling it out for the championship in front of a record audience of 1100 spectators.

Winner Jess Pastelak shared her gratitude after the event, “I just wanted to thank everyone who came out to the YorVoice competition tonight! I got 1st place! Thank you to everyone who has ever supported me, it means a lot. Performing and making music has always been my dream.”

Judges also crowned Jeanette Parker, who performed “Last Dance” by Donna Summer, the 2019 YorVoice Runner-Up in what was a very close competition!

The YorVoice 2019 People’s Choice Award was awarded in a landslide to Teagan Tatcher, who blew away the voting competition bringing in 2,847 votes, in part by unlocking a $1,000 match challenge offered to the teams. Collectively, the ten teams brought in 8,205 People’s Choice votes, helping to raise $8,205 for the Cultural Alliance’s 2019 Annual Campaign.

The YorVoice mission is to inspire York pride, celebrate the arts and their impact on our community, highlight local talent, and most importantly, raise awareness for the 2019 Annual Campaign.

Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign supports eight partner agencies that are essential to our cultural core and funds the Creative Impact Award grants that bring arts and culture to life in York County. Since 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign has granted $10.2 million cash and more than $2 million in-kind support since 2000.
