York, PA – On June 21st, 2022 York County will join over 125 countries worldwide for Make Music Day, the largest single-day music event since it’s beginnings in 1982 in France. Make Music Day, coordinated in the U.S. by the Make Music Day Foundation, is an inclusive DIY festival encouraging musicians, producers, promoters and music lovers to collaborate, and to organize in-person and online music performances in their communities.
Make Music Day celebrates and promotes the natural music maker in all of us, regardless of ability, by providing free, interactive events to the public throughout the day. Make Music Day events turn sidewalks and streets into impromptu stages; lets amateur musicians share their passion and gain confidence; and gives established artists in all genres a chance to perform for new audiences.
Get Involved: We invite you to make music on June 21st by either, attending an event, or hosting your own. Support for musicians and organizers is available every step of the way, including a suite of toolkits and workshops explaining everything from live streaming to publicity templates, and more. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your talents as a part of a wide-spread united effort to bring communities together through music.
The Make Music Day committee will be organizing events like open mic’s, drum circles, make your own instrument sessions for kids, kazoo and harmonica play-alongs, and more.
