What should you expect at York County’s Make Music Day Celebration?
Lots and lots of music.
We have reached far and wide to bring musicians and music teachers together to provide a unique experience, and we invite you to jump right in! Play an instrument? Bring it along! Guitars, clarinets, triangles, djembes, we want to see it all! The best locations to bring your own instrument and play along will be: Cherry Lane from 10am-1:30pm during Kent Nazareth and Ronn and Ian’s Snack Club performances, on Continental Square from 12pm-5:30pm alongside Shine Music Foundation and Boompop Collective, and OF COURSE during our massive group performance and Kazoo Parade on Continental Square at 5:30pm!
Group Performance!
If you are planning to come to our big group performance, we recommend arriving between 5 and 5:30 so you can get your kazoo if you need one! Any and all other instruments are welcome as well, so bust out that old mandolin, harmonica or clarinet and join us!
Sound!
For sound-sensitive kids and adults a set of headphones on hand is never a bad idea. Quieter and smaller activities are available at Martin Library, Kaltreider-Benfer Library, Village Library, Dover Library, and Arthur Hufnagle Library in Glen Rock. Times and activities vary, so check the website!
Parking!
Parking is easy in Downtown York! There are 3 garages within a block of our main hub of activity. Details about street parking in Downtown York can be found here: https://www.yorkcity.org/city-services/departments/business-administration/york-city-parking/on-street-parking/
Garages are $3 for 2 hours, and street parking is $1 per hour. The City of York uses ParkMobile for contactless parking payment.
Find a map with parking garages, and streets where metered parking is available here: https://www.downtownyorkpa.com/parking
Last but not least we ask for your patience and flexibility as this is our first year organizing such a large event! While you may encounter a bit of chaos and noise, we invite you to go with the flow and embrace this community-centric experience in all of its glory. If you enjoy your experience we humbly ask for contributions to support our efforts: www.culturalyork.org/donate
See you soon!
