York, PA – The Cultural Alliance of York County is pleased to announce the recipients of Welcoming Communities, York County Grants from 2022 and 2023. In Summer of 2022, the Cultural Alliance received $40,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts to be distributed throughout York County to fund events which use the arts to foster connection, inclusivity, and social cohesion in the community. After being reviewed by a community panel, grants of up to $2,000 each were disbursed to 20 non-profit organizations during the two rounds of funding in Fall of 2022, and Spring of 2023.
Organizations and events which received funding are:
- York College of Pennsylvania – Printmaking workshop with Joseph Velasquez and Combat Paper workshop with local veterans
- Creative York – Hanover Artist Rally
- York County History Center – Family Day 2023 and History Passport of York County
- My Choice 2 Change – My Choice 2 -B Stress Free through Music
- Rainbow Rose Center – York County Pride
- Susquehanna National Heritage Area – Riverfest 2023
- Northern Central Railway of York – PA Cowboy Weekend and Ages of Railroad Northern Central Railway 10th Anniversary
- Teaching Museum for the Fiber Arts & Textiles – Stewartstown Christmas House Tour & Open House and Have it Made Here Event
- Union Evangelical Lutheran Church – Juneteenth Community Block Party
- Phoenix Media Arts – Film and Media Class for York City and York County Students
- York Jewish Community Center – Pancakes for Pride
- Dillsburg Arts and Revitalization Council – Chalk the Walk and Heritage Education Program
- Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education – Horn Farm Center Annual Plant Sale and Community event with musical performance by Nodding Onion
- The Movement – The Movement’s Neighborhood Cookout with Live Art
- YWCA Hanover – Performance of the children’s opera, Brundibar
- Northeast Neighborhood Association – Nena Block Party
- Working Progress – What the Food Trucks Festival
- York College Galleries – Inside Out, A Collaborative Exhibition by the First Tuesday Critique Group
- Hanover Area YMCA – Healthy Kids Day
- York Art Association – Make Music Day Artist Event
These grants mark the first time that National Endowment for the Arts money has been disbursed in York County, and are part of an initiative to diversify and expand funding sources for community leaders and events which elevate and connect the York County community.

Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign currently supports arts organizations and artists that are essential to arts and culture in our community. Over the past 23 years invested $12.2 million in cash and $2.5 million in in-kind support for the arts. Through critical operational grants, the Cultural Alliance is the lifeline for arts and culture in York County.
