York, PA – The Cultural Alliance of York County is pleased to announce the first ever recipients of the Artist Professional Development Grant. Offered quarterly beginning in 2020, this grant provides resources to individual artists in York County to do the work they are passionate about, so that they can move their professional career forward. The recipients of the Artist Professional Development Grant in the 1st Quarter of 2020 are:
- Patricia Tomes – For the purchase of a new iPad for portfolio management and sales, and in-depth online art classes with artist Mary Bentz Gilkerson.
- Terri Yacovelli – To attend a workshop with master encaustic painter Lisa Pressman, and gain the necessarily skill to work in large-format encaustics.
- Leah Limpert Walt – For the creation of a brand new body of work to be displayed in a solo show at Marketview Arts in June 2020.
A total of $5,000 was awarded to artists during the first quarter, in partnership with the Charlotte R. Langione and Walter B. Loucks-Michael Alan Bose Funds of the York County Community Foundation. Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign currently supports eight partner agencies that are essential to arts and culture in our community and over the last 20 years has invested over $10.4 million in cash and $2.2 million in in-kind support for the arts. Under its new more inclusive and diverse operating model, The Cultural Alliance will be expanding its funding to further grow and strengthen arts and culture in York County.
