York, PA – The deadline to be considered for the Cultural Alliance of York County’s new Artist Innovator Award has been extended to August 31st. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the prioritization of providing emergency relief funding to artists, and recent global events, several changes have been made to the award process. The Cultural Alliance has made the decision to give out only a single award of $10,000, as well as postpone the award until the fall of 2020. The additional time will be used to spread the word about the award more broadly and equitably into our community.

The Artist Innovator Award was created to showcase the artistic excellence that exists in York County, and is part of a new tier of funding launched by the Cultural Alliance in 2020 specifically for individual artists. While only a single award will now be given, as funds have been redirected, the Cultural Alliance has been able to provide $20,000 in relief to over 50 of our York County Artists for lost income due directly to Covid-19.

In fall of 2020, the award will be given to a York County artist who demonstrates exemplary technical proficiency, artistic expression and innovation in their field. The “Artist Innovator Awards” are open to all types of artists living in York County for at least 1 year, by creating a portfolio on www.York365.com.

To be considered for the Artist Innovator Awards, artists may choose to enter their portfolios into 1 of 6 categories for adjudication: Music, Dance, Visual Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts, and Screen/Film. Six finalists for the awards will be selected by a nationwide panel of jurors, with one awardee then chosen from the six finalists.

The deadline for artists in York County to create a portfolio on York365.com and be considered for the prize is now August 31th, 2020.
