Cultural Alliance to host “Choose Your Own Adventure” CelebrateARTS! Week of Free Cultural Events

Family Day at the York County History Museum for CelebrateARTS Week in January 2020

York, PA – The Cultural Alliance of York County will kick-off their 2021 Campaign to raise re-start funding for the arts with a full week of free cultural events, January 16th-23rd.  With the 2021 theme; “Choose Your Own Adventure,” all offerings during CelebrateARTS! will be free and offered primarily online so that citizens choose the cultural adventures that are safe for themselves and their families.  Presented by Glatfelter Insurance Group, with additional sponsorship from M&T Bank and York Traditions Bank, this annual event has been reimagined for 2021 to provide a multitude of free creative experiences for guests to choose from.

The 2021 CelebrateARTS! Week will host events every day including a virtual concert from the Susquehanna Folk Music Festival on January 17th, a virtual Martin Luther King Day Celebration on January 18th, and an online Vision Journaling Art Class hosted by Creative York on January 20th.  Guests are additionally invited to get outdoors and take a walk along the rail trail to view a series of carved ice sculptures created as part of the FestiveIce celebration and end the week on the 23rd with an interactive virtual Family Day, hosted by the York County History Center.

“This year, it was more important than ever to partner with our arts groups and artists to provide free, engaging experiences for our community,” stated Kelley Gibson, President of the Cultural Alliance. “These adventures provide a way for the public to get creative while supporting our arts and culture sector so they can have the resources they need to restart and reimagine programs.”

To fit the theme of “choose your own adventure”, young creatives ages 5-12 are encouraged to design their very own treasure map out of any materials, and then post an image of their work on social media with the hashtags #artadventuregiveaway and #celebratearts.  On the last day of CelebrateARTS! week, a randomly selected winner will receive a basket of art supplies provided by Creative York.

All events are free and open to the public, but some have limited space and require pre-registration.  Find a full listing of events and register at www.culturalyork.org/celebratearts-week.

Sponsorship opportunities for CelebrateARTS! Week are still available by contacting Rita Whitney at Rita@culturalyork.org

Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign currently supports eight partner agencies that are essential to arts and culture in our community and over the last 20 years has invested over $10.4 million in cash and $2.2 million in in-kind support for the arts.   Under its new more inclusive and diverse operating model, The Cultural Alliance will be expanding its funding to further grow and strengthen arts and culture in York County.
