Cultural Alliance of York County Embarks on a Listening Project to Guide Their Work for the Next 20 Years

The Cultural Alliance of York County wants to hear from you.

Leading up to their 20th Anniversary, the Cultural Alliance wants to understand how they can best support and strengthen arts and culture in York County and position the organization for strength and sustainability into the next 20 years. To accomplish this, they have been working with design thinking consultant Erin McGlaughlin of DesignQuake to interview donors, volunteers, funded partners, non-funded partners, and community leaders over the past year to answer the question: how can the Cultural Alliance meet the needs of the York community now and in the years to come? The Alliance is now sharing those findings and inviting the residents of York County to engage in an open dialogue on arts and culture through their online cultural listening project site at www.future-culturalyork.org

Unveiled at their annual public meeting on November 13, 2018, the Cultural Alliance listening project site details the project methods, findings, and ways for the public to contribute their voices to the conversation. “Our listening project site will give residents of York County a way to learn more about the Cultural Alliance operating and allocations model  over the past 20 years, our vision for a more inclusive and diverse operating  model, and how we intend to achieve our vision; “stated Tony Campisi, Chair of the Cultural Alliance Board of Directors.  “As we work through this process, we are eager to have the voices and thoughts from everyone involved with our arts and culture community.”

Members of the public are invited to visit the site to review the project process-to-date, explore preliminary findings, and use the online contributor portal to add their voice to the conversation. To submit offline comments or for more information on the listening project, call the Cultural Alliance at 717-812-9255.

Founded as a United Arts Fund in 1999, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign supports eight partner agencies that are essential to arts and culture in our community and funds the Creative Impact Award grants that bring arts and culture to life in York County. Since its inception, the Cultural Alliance’s annual campaign has enabled $10.4 million in cash grants and more than $2 million in-kind support for the arts.
